Skynet isn't compatible with OS Leopard X and I was so hoping the world was going to end in 2011.

  • FEAR is reformatting back to Vista 64 on his new laptop...Windows 7 killed my cd/dvd drive, so back to Vista I go. *shrug* : ). 4:33pm - Comment - Like

  • I told myself I was over commenting today, but before the same thing happens to me, I must ask the cause.
  • I'm no where near as good with computers as you and I'd hate to be calling you at the end of the week asking, "What did I do wrong?"
  • My dad wouldn't be able to help me because he doesn't have Vista on any of his computers, just XP, and Linux on a couple.
  • Was Windows 7 not compatible with your CD/DVD drive driver?
  • FEAR at 4: 43pm March 10
  • So the specific situation goes something like this:
  • My new Asus laptop uses windows vista 64 bit native drivers for the CD/DVD RW drive. Asus does NOT supply ANY drivers whatsoever for the DVDRW drive.
  • So, when I installed windows 7 as the operating system, it decided to WTFPWN all of Vista's native drivers and decidedly put my DVDRW drive on the S.S. Failboat to Failtown USA.
  • Windows 7 looks nice and runs VERY smoothly with very little RAM usage as well, so I can't wait for a full retail version. Should be a decided upgrade over Vista for performance. : )
  • Anyways for now, back to Vista for me. I'm going to try 7 on my desktop hooked up to my TV and see how that goes, but I'll probably go to that a little bit later this week. I've got a million other things to do still. I was just installing 7 while I was typing my Gen. Psych paper. ;-)
  • Overall install took approximately 30 min.
  • Hope that helps!

  • So word of warning is... make sure I have the capabilities of reinstalling drivers to any and all hardware I have hooked up to my current system since some drivers aren't available online for download.
  • That does help. Thanks.
  • I'm debating if it is worth the effort, but with me doing our Fight Klub animated commercial on Flash and Illustrator, I'd like access to more of my RAM so that the process is faster.
  • Or I may just cheat and import stuff over from Alice, it isn't as moody as Flash, but it also doesn't have all the cool features.
  • Good Luck on the Gen. Psych paper and have fun at RCIA tonigh!

  • I recommend OS X "Leopard" and two aspirin will cure that cramp
  • FEAR at 5: 56pm March 10
  • LMAO ALLY! : D
  • You know I'm a Mac guy through and through anyways...but I was curious to see what kind of improvements MS was making in their OS.
  • The more I've seen of leopard and what I say of 7...well, I will continue to say that MS is still playing catch up to Apple.
  • Btw, you're wit is NEVER wasted on me.
  • Perhaps I should refer to you as "Dr. ALLY" from now on? ;)

  • LMAO, I attempted to buy a Mac, I just couldn't afford one and now Steve Jobs is sick and I'm feeling guilty for not giving him my money.
  • *cries wimpy girl tears*
  • You Mac people always strike us PC people when we're down, which has been since January 30th, 2007. : - P
  • FEAR at 6: 06pm March 10
  • Lol! You "PC People" were down previously from approximately September of 1999 (Testing of Windows ME began) until October 25th, 2001 (Release of Windows XP).
  • Now we're getting a 2nd taste of it with Vista (which has definitely been WAAAAAAYYYYY better than ME EVER was...)
  • and will be "redeemed" by windows 7. : P
  • Seriously though, no worries. Everyone will end up using apple at some point in their life. Hell, look at the market penetration with Ipods. : D
  • Cheer up dear, you do have an AWESOME pc. : D
  • FEAR at 6: 23pm March 10
  • Oh My, I'm in tears from laughter, luckily I never suffered from ME, I went straight from 2000 to XP. I would've stayed with XP, but Vista was forced upon me because of the hardware I wanted.
  • You're right though, we'll all either get Macs, or the PC world will become more ecologically efficient. Too bad Ozymandias never fixed the world in 1985.
  • I am saving up for a Mac Book Pro though instead of beefing up my five year old Compaq laptop. Plus, there are rumors of an iTablet which would rock my world if it includes a Wacom interface and abilities to run Illustrator, which it may. I'm writing the company to tell them how much I want one of these rumored devices.
